Findlay, Ohio, Aug. 13, 2004 – The second season of The University of Findlay’s Concert and Lecture series will feature performances by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Opera and the Ballet Internationale-Indianapolis.
The season opens Sunday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m., when members of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Chelsea Tipton II, will present “Overture to the Barber of Seville” by Rossini, “Rumanian Folk Dances” by Bartók, “Suite No. 2” by Bach and “Symphony No. 7” by Beethoven.
The Toledo Opera will present “An Opera Gala” with popularly recognized selections from “Carmen” by Bizet, “Madama Butterfly” by Puccini, “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini, “La Bohème” by Puccini and “Rigoletto” by Verdi on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tipton, will perform “Emperor Waltzes” by Strauss, “Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and Orchestra” by Elgar and “Symphony No. 3” by Beethoven on Friday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m.
The season concludes on Saturday, March 19 at 8 p.m. when The Ballet Internationale-Indianapolis will present “The Romance of Ballet” with selections from “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky, “Dying Swan” by Saint-Saëns, “Don Quixote” by Minkus and “The Sleeping Beauty” by Tchaikovsky.
All performances will take place in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s TLB Foundation Convocation Center, adjacent to The University of Findlay.
