UF Appoints Salis and Riffle to New Positions

Findlay, Ohio, Aug. 20, 2004 – Doris Salis, Ph.D., and Heather Riffle have been appointed to new positions at The University of Findlay.

Salis, who has served as dean of adult and continuing education since 1990, has been named as assistant vice president for curriculum and accreditation.

Prior to coming to Findlay, she was director of graduate and continuing education at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, N.H. Salis also taught music in public schools in Pittsburgh and in Rochester, N.Y., and taught music education, theory, and piano at Carlow College in Pittsburgh.

A Pittsburgh native, Salis earned a bachelor of arts degree in music education from Carlow College, a master of music degree in piano and music literature from the University of Rochester and a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Salis lives in Findlay.

Heather Riffle has been named as director of the newly created Office of Graduate and Special Programs. The new office will serve students entering graduate and degree completion programs and transfer students.

Riffle has served as coordinator of special programs and as an academic adviser in the Office of Adult and Continuing Education since 1997. The Office of Adult and Continuing Education has been dissolved.

She had worked at Whirlpool Corp. in Findlay and as a public records recorder for Hancock Credit Services before joining the University staff.

Riffle holds associate of arts and bachelor of science degrees in technology management from UF. She will complete a master of education degree in human resource development from the University in December.

She and her husband, Robert, live in Findlay with their 4-year-old son.
