SABAH Calls for Volunteers
Thursday, August 05, 2004
Findlay, Ohio, Aug. 5, 2004 – Volunteers are needed for the fourth season of the Findlay Chapter of the Skating Association for the Blind and Handicapped (SABAH).
Volunteer training will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. at Clauss Ice Arena in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex at The University of Findlay. Both former and new SABAH volunteers should plan to attend the training session. Skaters will be assigned to volunteers during the training session.
SABAH Director Jean Folkerth said that anyone who likes to skate is invited to volunteer, but that the organization especially needs volunteers who practice strength training.
Skating sessions will begin Sunday, Sept. 19 and run through March. Skating will be held every Sunday afternoon in the Clauss Ice Arena. An ice show with a television theme will be held March 13 to showcase the talents of the participants.
SABAH provides individuals who are physically, mentally or emotionally challenged the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the development of ice skating skills and performing in an annual skating program.
For more information, call Folkerth at (419) 434-6945 or Julie Gundy at (419) 423-9656.
