Senior Forum Begins Sept. 29

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 21, 2004 – The University of Findlay’s Senior Forum, a six-week series of learning experiences for people age 50 and older, begins Wednesday, Sept. 29 in the Alumni Memorial Union.

The forums, consisting of a variety of informative and entertaining sessions, take place each Wednesday through Nov. 3. Three sessions take place each day, one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the afternoon. Some sessions form a series on a particular topic from week to week. However, all sessions stand alone.

The Sept. 29 program will feature “G.W., George Washington That Is!” by historical impersonator Ken Hammontree from 10:15-11:30 a.m. The lunch session from noon to 1 p.m. will include “Juvenile Justice System” by Hancock County Probate Judge Allen Davis, and the afternoon session from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. will feature “The Art of Barbershop Singing” by Fred Schmidt and Friends.

Upcoming sessions include: “Winebrenner Theological Seminary: History and Tour,” “Ohio Taxes and Your Estate” and “Musical Theatre” on Oct. 6; “Panel: the Future of Findlay,” “Findlay: ‘A River Runs Through It’” and “Hancock County: Proud of Its Parks” on Oct. 13; “Impressions of Peru,” “Spanish Culture” and “Spanish Style in Music” on Oct. 20; “Are You Depressed,” “Good Nutrition” and “Pilates for Fitness” on Oct. 27; and “King Arthur and His Friends,” “Update on the School of Environmental and Emergency Management” and “Jericho Road Singers” on Nov. 3.

Prices for the complete, 18-session program are $60 for individuals or $105 for couples. Any series of six sessions is priced at $20 for individuals and $35 for couples. A day’s session or any three sessions are $10 for individuals and $17.50 for couples. The fee for any single session is $3.50 for individuals and $6 for couples.

A box lunch is available for an additional $5 per day, and a coffee/tea bar is provided all day at no charge.
