Findlay, Ohio, Oct. 13, 2004 – People who bought flags flown in the Findlay Healing Field™ Flag Memorial display are invited to march with The University of Findlay Oiler Brass during the Oct. 23 Oilers football game versus Gannon University.
According to Oiler Brass Director Ron Cable, the band will present a patriotic halftime show during the game, and people bringing Healing Field flags will march across the field with the band during its final number.
Cable said that including Healing Field flag owners in the band’s halftime show is a way to continue to honor the people recognized during the Healing Field’s display at the Russ and Peg Armstrong Athletic Complex Sept. 9-12.
More than 4,200 flags, representing individuals who gave their lives for their countries and those who are currently serving their countries in the military and in first responder fields, flew in the display.
Each person bringing a Healing Field flag to the game, which begins at 6 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, will be admitted free. Participants should meet at the bandstand by half time. No rehearsal is required.
The band will offer a secure place to keep the flags before halftime during the game. All participants will get their flags back after the game.
