UF Concert-Chorale Will Perform Nov. 21

Findlay, Ohio, Nov. 1, 2004 – The University of Findlay Concert-Chorale will present its annual fall concert, “Sing & Ring in the Season,” on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m., in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary TLB Foundation Convocation Center, adjacent to the UF campus.

The concert will feature seasonal music for chorus and handbell choir, and several compositions include a children’s chorus. Featured in the concert will be the Old Millstream Ringers, directed by Martha Avery, and the Washington Intermediate School Chorus, directed by Janet Carey.

Some of the compositions planned for the concert include arrangements of “Sing We Now of Christmas,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Ding Dong Merrily on High,” “Deck the Halls” and many other traditional Christmas carols. The highlight of the concert will be an eight-movement Christmas suite entitled “Celebrate the Season,” arranged for chorus and handbells by contemporary composer Joel Raney.

The 65-voice UF Concert-Chorale is conducted by Micheal F. Anders, Ph.D., professor of music, and accompanied by pianist Sharon Vaas.

In addition to Concert-Chorale, the University has five other performing musical groups – Marching/Pep Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and University Singers.

UF offers a minor in musical arts, which requires 24 semester hours of coursework. Students may take classes in a variety of courses, including Music for the Primary Teacher, Elementary Music Theory, Rock Music Styles and private vocal and instrumental lessons.
