Local Students to Present Research at UF Academic Excellence Day

Nov. 8, 2004, Findlay, Ohio – Several Findlay area students have been selected to present their research projects at The University of Findlay’s fourth annual Academic Excellence Day on Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Ralph and Gladys Koehler Complex.

The students and their presentation topics are:

Kimberly Fisher, a 1999 graduate of Findlay High School and a senior graphic communication major at UF, will present “An International Template: Examining Japanese Design Techniques,” at 10 a.m.

Seth Woolley, a 2001 graduate of Mt. Cory High School and a computer science major at UF, will present “Virtual Chemistry Lab” at 10 a.m.

Mary Martin, a graduate of Findlay High School and a human resource management major at UF, will present “Search for Identity in Japan” at 10:50 a.m.

Angela Fruth, a 2002 graduate of Findlay High School and a history major at UF, will present “Study Abroad in Austria and Beyond” at 10:50 a.m.

Joshua Beard, at 2002 graduate of Findlay High School and a computer science major at UF, will present “Virtual Chemistry Lab” at 10 a.m.

Kristen Gordon, a 2003 graduate of Findlay High School and a sophomore occupational therapy major, will present “Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)” at 10:50 a.m.

Dana LaPlant, a 2001 graduate of Findlay High School and a senior English major at UF, will give a poetry reading from her own original poetry at 10 a.m.

The students are among more than 50 students and faculty from the University that will present some of their best research projects and academic endeavors as part of UF’s Academic Excellence Day.

The event will kick off with a keynote address from Walter Mosley, the author of more than 19 books including Devil in a Blue Dress and Black Betty at 9 a.m. in the Koehler Complex.

The program will wrap up with a performance from UF’s theatre program that will highlight a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 11:30 a.m. in the Koehler Complex.
