Housing Advocate to Address Community at UF Event

Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2005 – All members of the Findlay community who want to learn more about eliminating homelessness are invited to attend a Habitat for Humanity International Poverty Awareness Call Monday, Jan. 10, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary Chapel Room 254 on The University of Findlay campus.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

The event’s main speaker will be Nicolas Retsinas, the vice-chair of HFHI and lecturer in housing studies at the Harvard University Design School and Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Retsinas’ address will take the form of a telephone conference to collegiate chapters across the country.

Retsinas’ goal for HFHI is to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action around the world.

A presentation on the work of the UF Habitat chapter and the Findlay/Hancock County Habitat affiliate will precede the awareness call.

HFHI is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world.

It was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller and has built more than

175,000 houses around the world, providing more than 750,000 people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
