Unity Walk, Speeches to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2005 – In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contributions to society, The University of Findlay and Findlay’s Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center are sponsoring Hancock County’s first Unity Walk on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m.

Participation is free and open to the public.

The Unity Walk will begin at the parking lot south of Marathon Ashland Petroleum Co. at 3:30 p.m. and follow South Main Street and Main Cross to Central Middle School. Those planning to participate in the walk are asked to arrive at the parking lot by 3:15 p.m.

A program celebrating King’s life will take place in the school’s auditorium following the walk. The program’s keynote speaker is Barry Scott, an expert on King’s life. Scott will tell his life story and reenact King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. The program will also include UF President DeBow Freed and Findlay Mayor Tony Iriti.

Refreshments will follow in the Central Middle School Auditorium.
