Feb. 9, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay has been ranked in the top tier of Midwestern universities in “U.S. News and World Report’s” annual look at higher education. The ranking is included in the 2005 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.”
“We are pleased to be listed among the nation’s best universities and colleges,” said Dr. DeBow Freed, UF president. “The recognition is a reflection of the quality of the University’s outstanding students, faculty and programs.”
U.S. News and World Report ranks 324 comprehensive colleges within four regions: North, South, Midwest and West. Comprehensive colleges are institutions that focus on undergraduate education and offer a range of degree programs in professional fields such as business, physical therapy and education as well as liberal arts. Unlike strictly liberal arts colleges, at comprehensive colleges fewer than half of the bachelor's degrees granted are in liberal arts.
Rankings are based on data that is gathered from each college on 16 indicators of academic excellence. Those indicators fall into the following categories: assessment by administrators at peer institutions; retention of students, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.
