UF Program Accepted to National Consortium
Wednesday, March 16, 2005

March 16, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay’s Law and Liberal Arts Program has been accepted to the Consortium for Undergraduate Law and Justice Programs.

The consortium serves as the national clearinghouse for information about teaching in and administering law and liberal arts programs. Acceptance into the consortium is based on a program’s history, faculty members, structure and curriculum.

According to Dr. Mark Polelle, director of the Law and the Liberal Arts Program, being accepted to the prestigious consortium is a great distinction for the program. “Dr. Paul Chwialkowski (UF associate professor of social science, criminal justice and public administration), I, and our students are honored by the Consortium for their decision to include our program in its group,” Polelle said. “Consortium membership will help spread news of the UF Law and Liberal Arts Program throughout the nation. This will make it easier for our students to gain even more favorable consideration when they apply to law schools. Consortium membership will also help our recruiting efforts, both for the program and the University as a whole.”

As a part of the consortium, UF’s Law and the Liberal Arts Program will benefit from the collegial support and intellectual exchange in the three major areas critical to the success of undergraduate law and justice programs: the structure and organization of programs; pedagogy and pedagogical techniques; and theory and research in law and justice.

The University of Findlay Law and the Liberals Arts Program is an interdisciplinary program that enables students to gain a broad-based liberal arts education that focuses on the law. The program is intended to stand as both an independent major within the College of Liberal Arts and as a preparatory program for students interested in law school. As part of the program, UF has articulation agreements with several law schools in Ohio, including Ohio Northern University and Capital University.
