UF Math Day Planned

Findlay, Ohio, March 17, 2005 — The University of Findlay has planned its 18th annual Mathematics Day for Thursday, March 31. Events will take place in the Alumni Memorial Union Multi-Purpose Room.

The featured speaker will be Mike Lanstrum. Lanstrum will present “Historical Women in Mathematics” from 10 to 11 a.m. in and “Study Skills and Brain Works” from 1-2 p.m.

Lanstrum has 14 years of experience in mathematics education and is the recipient of two distinguished teaching awards from the Kent State University Regional Campus System. He also received an Outstanding Alumni Award from Kent State. He holds tutor certification from the National Tutoring Association at the advanced professional level.

Lanstrum also co-authored three mathematics study guides and professional articles. He has presented sessions on study skills, math education and women in mathematics for a variety of professional math conferences. He is currently an Instructional Specialist at the Cuyahoga Community College Western Campus.
