Findlay, Ohio, March 29, 2005 – The University of Findlay chapter of Habitat for Humanity International will educate the campus and Findlay community about homelessness, poverty, poverty housing and efforts to eliminate these issues during Act! Speak! Build! Week April 4-10.

All activities are free and open to the public. The following are planned events:

Wednesday, April 6: 5:30-7:00 p.m. -- A Hunger Awareness Meal will be served in the UF Village Café. Attendees will explore the complexities of world hunger and poverty through a simulation of typical world meals based on economic comparisons. The meal is free and prepared by UF’s Hospitality Management Program, but donations are accepted to benefit Findlay/Hancock county food pantries and shelters. Reservations are required by April 1 for the Hunger Awareness Meal and can be made by contacting Crystal Jones at 419-434-6671 or cjones@findlay.edu.

Thursday, April 7: Noon-1 p.m. -- Dr. Wayne Sneath, director of the Campus Compact Center for Service & Learning at UF, will lead a discussion of Barbara Ehrenreich’s book “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America,” a journalistic account of the working poor in the United States in Winebrenner Theological Seminary Room 254.

Box City participants will collect money to benefit the Findlay-Hancock County Habitat for Humanity affiliate. There will also be a battle of the bands, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 10: 9 a.m.— Act! Speak! Build! Week will conclude with Box City participants attending College First Church of God services.
