Expert in Blood Speaks at UF

Findlay, Ohio, March 30, 2005 – Dr. Thomas Kunicki, an expert in hematology, will discuss the link between genes and cardiovascular disease at The University of Findlay on Friday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m. in the Pfeiffer Lecture Hall in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

Kunicki’s presentation, “The Molecular Genetics of Arterial Thrombosis,” is free and open to the public. Kunicki will address how genetic differences in platelets influence the risk of thrombosis and cardiovascular disease.

Kunicki is an associate professor in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif. He earned a doctoral degree from Marquette University in 1978. He is a member of the American Society for Cell Biology, the American Society of Hematology and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

Kunicki’s presentation is part of the University’s College of Sciences Lecture Series.
