UF Faculty Members to Present at Ohio Digital Education Conference

March 9, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – Several faculty members from The University of Findlay will give presentations on e-learning and the use of technology in education at the Ohio Digital Commons for Education (OCDE) 2005 Conference in Columbus Ohio on Tuesday, March 8.

The OCDE 2005 Conference is a three-day event, March 6-8, offering workshops and sessions on instruction, libraries and electronic media, e-learning and technology-enabled education in Ohio.

During the conference, Dr. Natalie Abell, professor in the College of Education, Dr. Corey Lee, academic technology specialist, and Dr. John F. "Skip" Cindric Jr., professor of education, will present “Guidelines for Teaching an Online Course.” The guidelines are used to assist educators in examining and improving the quality of online courses.

Dr. Judith Lanzendorfer, assistant professor of English; Dr. Nicole Diederich, associate professor of English and director of the Writing Center; Christine Denecker, assistant professor of English; and David Essinger, assistant professor of English; will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Using Digital Space Across Disciplines: Literature, Creative Writing, Teacher Education,” at the conference. The discussions will focus on several topics including the use of digital discussion in order to create a student/faculty community in a literature classroom.

Dr. Robert Frampton, director of UF’s Physical Therapy Program and associate professor of physical therapy, and Mark Carroll, assistant professor of physical therapy, will lead a presentation titled, “Development of an Interactive CD-ROM of Use in Instruction,” at the conference. The presentation will show participants the basic steps needed to implement CD-ROM technology into their own learning environment.

The faculty members were invited to present at the conference based on their expertise in the area of digital education.
