Findlay, Ohio, April 13, 2005 – The University of Findlay’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team won the title of USA SIFE Regional Champions at a competition held in Chicago earlier this week.
Thanks to this win, UF’s team will compete at the USA National Exposition in Kansas City, Mo., May 22-24. At that event, 180 teams from across the nation will compete, and the winner will advance to the World Cup in Toronto, Ontario.
SIFE is a non-profit organization active on more than 1,800 college and university campuses in 40 countries. SIFE teams reach out to their communities by teaching marketing, economics and entrepreneurship concepts.
The University’s SIFE team has sponsored local projects including marketing for Gallant’s Books and More, Learning with Lemons experiments with Findlay schoolchildren, teaching resumé and computer skills at the Findlay City Mission and Dining for Fun and Profit business etiquette lunches.
Members of the UF SIFE team are Ami Smith, Andy Kuhn, Kristen Gorden, Sara Kessler, Dan Smith, Paul Loera, Karl Forsthoefel, Matt Witte, Abbie Shook, Catie Lavigne, Rodney Dickman, Stephanie Back, David Lawrence, Heather Karney, David Lawrence, Charlie Shim, Christina Margraf and Roy Paniagua.
Dr. Greg Arburn, assistant professor of economics and finance and SIFE adviser, accompanied the students to the competition.
