OSHA Conference Held at UF

Findlay, Ohio, May 11, 2005 – The methods used by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure recovery workers’ safety at the World Trade Center will be among the subjects discussed at OSHA’s 2005 Preparedness and Worker Safety Conference at The University of Findlay on Tuesday, May 17.

The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.

“Emergency preparedness and worker safety are now critical aspects of our everyday life,” OSHA Regional Administrator Michael G. Connors, Chicago, said. “Construction companies, hospitals and the public health community and all workers involved in emergency preparedness planning and response activities will benefit from this conference.”

The conference will open with presentations by OSHA Deputy Regional Administrator Sandra Taylor, OSHA Special Assistant for Emergency Preparedness and Response John Ferris, Ohio Homeland Security Executive Director John Overly and Federal Emergency Management Agency Federal Coordinating Officer Ronald Sherman.

Breakout sessions, include “Lessons Learned: WTC” and “Lessons Learned: Anthrax” and others, will take place from 10:30-11:45 a.m., 1:15-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:15 p.m.

Throughout the conference, nearly 30 exhibitors will set up a trade show in the Koehler Complex.

The conference is sponsored by OSHA, the Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Homeland Security, FEMA, the United States Coast Guard, UF and the Findlay•Hancock Chamber of Commerce.

The public is invited to attend. A $95 registration fee, which includes breakfast, lunch and admission to all sessions, may be paid to The University of Findlay, School of Environmental and Emergency Management, 1000 N.
