UF Names Brian Washington as a Trustee

May 26, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay Board of Trustees have elected Brian X. Washington to serve as a trustee.

Washington is corporate recruitment account manager and manager of U.S. Search & Support for GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia, Pa., a position he has held since 2001. GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, with an estimated seven percent of the world’s pharmaceutical market. Washington’s responsibilities include strategic planning for finding and attracting the best talent for available positions at GlaxoSmithKline.

Previously, he was recruiting manager for PriceWaterHouseCoopers in Philadelphia, Pa., where he managed the functional and technical recruiting for the Information Technology Group in 2000-01. He also held positions as consultant for university relations and recruiting for Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell, Pa., from 1997 to 2000; manager of human resources for Keystone Mercy Health Plan in Philadelphia, Pa., from 1993 to 1997; assistant director of admissions for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1990 to 1993; program officer generalist at Kent State University from 1985 to 1989; and admissions counselor at The University of Findlay from 1984 to 1985.

Washington is a member of Beta Phi Di Gamma fraternal organization, the Delaware Valley Human Resources Association, the Society of Human Resource Management, the Greater Valley Forge Human Resource Association and Becks Pond Maintenance Corporation. He serves as an officer in the African American Alliance, an employee network at GlaxoSmithKline.

In 2002, Washington received the Unity Award for Service from GlaxoSmithKline. He was inducted into both the Morrison R. Waite Athletic Hall of Fame and The University of Findlay Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements playing football.

Washington graduated from The University of Findlay in 1984 with a bachelor of arts degree in marketing/business administration. He earned a master of arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix in 2000 and received a certificate in human resource management from Villanova University.

Washington and his wife, Carol, who is a 1987 graduate of The University of Findlay, have two children, Jamar and Jasmine, and reside in Bear, Del.
