UF to Host Kidarts Kamp
Thursday, June 02, 2005

June 1, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – More than 60 Findlay-area youth will spend the next couple of weeks learning about music, theatre, art and dance at the second annual Kidsarts Kamp.

The camp, which is a collaboration between the Arts Partnership and The University of Findlay’s SummerStock theatre program, will be held Monday-Friday, June 6-17 from 9 a.m. to noon at the University.

According to Joann Chase, camp co-director and adjunct instructor of theatre at UF, the camp is an opportunity for young students to express their creative side. “KidArts Kamp is a unique summer camp that offers children ages 6-14 the opportunity to learn about and engage in four areas of the fine arts: theatre, dance, music and art. We are looking forward to collaborating with The Arts Partnership and the talented youth of Findlay and the surrounding areas this year,” Chase explained. “It truly is a wonderful way to expose the youth of our area to the endless possibilities offered through the fine arts.”

The theme for this year’s Kidarts Kamp is “BIG TOP.” Camp attendees will participate in a circus-based curriculum, experiencing the sights, tastes, sounds and energy of the circus’s atmosphere. The colorful arts of the circus will be the focus of the workshops and the performance experiences.

Approximately 20 trained arts experts and education professionals from the Findlay community and The University of Findlay will lead the daily workshops.

The camp will conclude on June 17 with a big top performance at noon in Winebrenner Theological Seminary highlighting the youths’ accomplishments for family and the community.

For more information about the camp, contact Chase at 419-434-5512 or the Arts Partnership at 419-422-3412.
