UF Hosts Pottery Exhibit
Monday, August 29, 2005

Aug. 29, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay is hosting a pottery exhibit that features work by Robert Minto and Gary Wells through September 23 in the Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

The concept for the exhibit, titled “Attachments,” was inspired by the artists’ long-time friendship. It features nearly 40 pieces that have attachments such as handles, spouts and lids, including teapots, bowls and vases.

Minto, a 1969 graduate of Findlay College, has won a number of awards for his work including honorable mention at the Toledo Art Museum’s Spring Show, various Findlay Art League Show awards, and awards in pen and ink, pencil drawing and ceramics from the Wassenburg Museum in Van Wert, Ohio.

Minto worked as an art teacher and later high school principal for Ada Exempted Village Schools for more than 30 years. He also taught courses in mechanical illustration and airbrush techniques at James Rhodes University, Lima, Ohio.

Wells, a 1994 graduate of The University of Findlay, has won a number of awards for his work from the Art/Space, Lima, Ohio, the Findlay Art League and the Wassenburg Museum.

Wells is an art teacher at Ada High School. He serves as a technical illustration instructor for James Rhodes University, Lima, Ohio. In addition, he is the regional director of the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit.

An artists’ reception will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, 2-4 p.m. in the gallery.

The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
