Japanese Professor to Address Status of African Countries

Aug. 31, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – Dr. Toshio Akiba will give a presentation titled “Status of African Countries: Health and Development,” on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 7-8 p.m. in The University of Findlay’s Alumni Memorial Union Endly Room.
Akiba is an associate professor in the School of Social Welfare at Kyusyu University of Health and Welfare in Japan. He has served on several Japanese and international teams to improve public health in countries such as Tonga, Malawi and Ghana.
This year, Akiba is the faculty adviser for the 2005 UF-KAKE Ambassador program. The University's Kake Ambassador Program is an exchange program between UF and the Kake and Takahashi Educational Institutions of Japan. It is designed to give participants cultural and educational experiences that build friendships between countries.
