UF Appoints New Equestrian Faculty

Sept. 15, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – Sandra McCarthy and Jacob Bowman have been appointed to The University of Findlay’s equestrian faculty.

McCarthy has been named director of the University’s English Riding Program.

She was owner and head trainer of Hilltop Farm, Maineville, Ohio; president of Marley Sales in Rancho Margarita, Calif. and of Marley Sales, Inc. in Tuam, Ireland, which specializes in the sales and importation of Irish sport horses from the American hunter and jumper market. She has competed extensively on the A Circuit and had many riders qualified for national finals.

Bowman will serve as a western riding instructor in the University’s Western Riding Program.

Bowman holds a bachelor’s degree in equestrian studies and small business/entrepreneurship from The University of Findlay. He has worked as an assistant horse trainer for training facilities in Wilmington, Ohio, and Springfield, Ohio. He also has worked for Shawn Flarida Reiners and Clark Bradley Quarter Horse, Inc.

He was a member of UF’s Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Team. The team won the national championship in 2005 and he won two individual championships in the open and reining competitions. He was named 2003 Zone 6 IHSA Champion, and competed at the 2003 IHSA National Championships. He is a member of the National Reining Horse Association.
