UF’s Senior Forum Begins Sept. 21

Sept. 14, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay’s Senior Forum, a six-week series of learning experiences for people age 50 and older, begins Wednesday, Sept. 21 in the Alumni Memorial Union.

The forums, consisting of a variety of informative and entertaining sessions, take place each Wednesday through Oct. 26. Three sessions take place each day, one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the afternoon.

The Sept. 21 program will feature “Thomas Jefferson” by historian Jim Taylor from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. The lunch session from noon to 1 p.m. will included “Testing Our Values” by Dr. Richard Kern, UF professor emeritus of history. The afternoon session from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. will feature “What is Texture in Music?” by Mel Harsh of the Toledo Symphony.

The complete schedule of upcoming sessions is:

Sept. 28 – “Alternative Energy Sources,” “Taking Care of Your Eyes” and “Come to the Cabaret!”

Oct. 5 – “At the Scene of the Crime,” “The Senior Center of the Future” and “With the Pandas in China.”

Oct. 12 – “Panel: Stopping Child Abuse,” “Travel Do’s and Don’ts” and “An Afternoon at the Rieck Center.”

Oct. 19 – “Meriwether Lewis,” “Northwest Ohio: Some History” and “The Fantastic Pipe Organ: Performance.”

Oct. 26 – “Wonders of Tibet,” “Read for Life” and “The Art of Russia.”

Prices for the complete, 18-session program are $65 for individuals or $125 for couples. The fee for any single session is $4. A buffet lunch is available for an additional $5 per day, and a coffee/tea bar is provided all day at no charge. For more information, call 419-434-4672 or 1-800-434-4166.
