UF Professor to Present Cancer Research
Tuesday, September 27, 2005
Sept. 27, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – Michael Edelbrock, assistant professor in The University of Findlay’s School of Environmental and Emergency Management, will present “Cancer Biology, Mechanisms and Current Theory,” Monday, Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. in the Martin Lecture Hall in the Brewer Science Hall on the UF campus.
Edelbrock, who is studying cancer biology at the cellular level, will discuss the prevailing theory of cell transformation and cancer progression. He will focus on how the cell can repair DNA and avoid mutations that cause cancer. Edelbrock has presented this information at both national and international conferences.
Edelbrock has more than 20 years experience in the environmental and industrial hygiene science arena. He started his environmental career setting up mobile laboratories at toxic waste sites to analyze the basis of contamination at these sites. Later he started an environmental and industrial hygiene consulting company, serving clients nationwide. During this time, he specialized in measuring air borne pollutants to evaluate exposure.
Edelbrock holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and a master of science degree in environmental management. Currently, he is studying toward a Ph.D. in medical science at the Medical University of Ohio.
The presentation is sponsored by UF’s College of Sciences Lecture Series.
