Book Discussion to Be Held at UF

Sept. 28, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay’s Faculty Roundtable will meet Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. in Deming Hall’s Rosewood Room to discuss the writings and political stances of Andres J. Bacevich, professor of international relations and director of the Center for International Relations at Boston University.
The discussion will be led by Dr. Mark Polelle, director of history, political science and law and the liberal arts at UF.
Bacevich, a West Point graduate and Vietnam War veteran, is the author of several books including “The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War” and “American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U.S. Diplomacy.”
According to Polelle, the discussion will cover Bacevich’s suggestions on ways America can improve its defense policies and the war in Iraq.
Polelle is an expert on military conflicts, foreign affairs, law, politics and national current events. He is the author of the book “Imagined Hegemonies.” Polelle holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.L.S., J.D. and Ph.D. from Rutgers University.
