Sept. 28, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay Homecoming activities are set for Oct. 6-8. The theme for this year’s festivities is “Generation to Generation.”
Event highlights for the weekend include:
Education Symposium, Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, Multipurpose Room – Dr. Stanley Swartz ’70, professor of education at California State University, will be the keynote speaker, delivering a lecture on literacy. Admission is free.
Class of 1955 Welcome Reception, Friday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. in the UF Pavilion, 415 College St. – Members of the Class of 1955 are invited to a special reception in honor of their 50-year anniversary. Admission is free. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
Festival on Campus, Friday, Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the corner of Frazer and N. Main streets – Enjoy a giant light-up ferris wheel, amusement rides, roving artists, inflatables and midway games. Admission: $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under.
Class of 1955 Reunion Dinner, Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion – Members of the Class of 1955 and their guests are invited. Admission: $20. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
Alumni Association Annual Breakfast, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion – A breakfast will be held for alumni, the 2005 Distinguished Alumni and the Class of 1955. Admission: $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, free for children five and under. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
Dedication of Outdoor Study Area, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. west of Henderson Dining Hall – A dedication ceremony of the new outdoor study area by Henderson Dining Hall. Funds for the area were donated by the classes of 1955 and 2005. Admission is free.
Marching Oiler Brass Reunion, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, north lawn – Band alumni are invited to perform with the Marching Oiler Brass at half time of the Homecoming football game. Registration is required by contacting Jack Taylor at 419-434-4573 or jtaylor@findlay.edu.
Alumni of Color Open House, Saturday, Oct. 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion, Malcolm Dining Hall – All Native American, Asian American, Hispanic American and African American alumni are invited to visit with current students, faculty and staff. Admission is free.
Family Equestrian Festival, Saturday, Oct. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the James L. Child, Jr. Equestrian Complex – Alumni and families are invited to watch riding, vaulting and jumping demonstrations, while children enjoy a clown, face painting and pony rides. Admission is free.
Alumni Tailgate Party, Saturday, Oct. 8 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, north lawn – Admission: $10. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
Champions’ Tailgate – 1985 and 1995 football teams, Saturday, Oct. 8 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, north lawn – All members of the 1985 and 1995 football teams are invited. Admission: $10. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
Homecoming Football Game: Indianapolis vs. The University of Findlay, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. at Donnell Stadium – Secret judges will be planted in the stands looking for individuals demonstrating the most Oiler pride. Prizes will be awarded. The half time show will include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen and a performance by the Marching Oiler Brass. Admission: $6.
Champions’ Reunion – 1985 and 1995 football teams, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Findlay Inn and Conference Center. All members of the 1985 and 1995 football teams are invited. Admission: $10 for individuals, $15 for couples. Registration is required by calling 419-434-4516.
