UF to Host “Paddington Bear” Series Illustrator

Sept. 8, 2005, Findlay, Ohio – Children’s book illustrator R. W. Alley will be at the Mazza Museum at The University of Findlay on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m.

Alley is the illustrator of the “Paddington Bear” series by Michael Bond, which tells of the bear’s adventures around London with his friend Mr. Gruber. The collection includes adventures such as “Paddington Bear at the Circus,” “Paddington Bear Goes to the Hospital,” “Paddington Bear in the Garden” and “Paddington Bear and the Busy Bee Carnival.”

Alley also has illustrated numerous other books, including “Cat Skidoo” by Bethany Roberts, “A Revolutionary Field Trip: Poems of Colonial America” by Susan Katz, the “Know-Nothing” books by Michele Sobel Spirn and “The Real, True Dulcie Campbell” by Cynthia DeFelice.

Alley’s presentation will take place in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion on the UF campus and will be followed by a book and gift sale and autographing. Admission is $3 per person. Located in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion on the UF campus, the Mazza Museum is raising funds for a $2.2 million campaign to expand the building by more than 11,000 square feet. The addition will provide more space for educational programs and for the preservation and protection of its more than 3,300 artworks. Completion of the addition is scheduled for 2007.
