Oct. 12, 2005, Findlay, Ohio - The University’s entry-level Master’s in Athletic Training (MAT) Program has been officially accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
The CAAHEP is the national accreditation agency for entry-level athletic training programs.
According to Dr. Donald Fuller, program director, the Athletic Training Program has undergone a number of changes recently.
“Over the last four years new faculty and staff have been selected. A new classroom and lab have been added, as well as a new athletic training library and new technology,” Fuller explained. “Plus, the program was converted from a bachelor's to a master's program, from a four-year program to a two-year professional program, and from an internship-route to full CAAHEP accreditation.”
As a result of being accredited, graduates of the master’s program will be eligible to sit for the national BOC certification exam. Fuller added that the accreditation already has improved the number of inquiries from potential students.
“Our MAT program is one of only 15 in the world, and it is the only one within a 350 mile radius,” Fuller said. “It also overlaps with both strength and conditioning major and physical therapy major,” said Fuller.
