UF to Host Diversity Film Series
Thursday, October 20, 2005

Oct. 20, 2005, Findlay, Ohio –The University of Findlay will show two films that address important issues on diversity on Oct. 26 and 27.

“Understanding Race,” will be shown on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in Malcolm Lecture Hall in the Frost Science Center. The film will examine the history and power of the artificial distinction called “race” and view it within the historical, scientific and cultural context.

The second film, “Skin Deep,” will be presented on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in Pfeiffer Lecture Hall in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. The presentation will be a journey into the hearts and minds of college students as they struggle with our country’s racial legacy. A diverse group of students will candidly and openly share their anger, pain, confusion and hope. The film encourages self-examination and dialogue as it takes us beneath the surface of America’s racial divide.

For more information on the free public presentations, call Desmond Buford, UF executive director of intercultural student services, at 419-434-6967.
