Findlay, Ohio - The Mazza Museum Celebrity Art Auction raised $48,355
for the museum’s building addition campaign fund. The auction was held
Nov. 12 at the University.
The museum is raising $2.2 million for an 11,000-square-foot addition.
The addition will provide more space for educational programs and for
the preservation and protection of its artworks. Completion of the
addition is scheduled for 2007.
More than 130 pieces of original artwork donated by notable artists whose
work is included in the Mazza Museum were auctioned off during the
event.
The piece that brought the highest price was a watercolor and pastel
titled “Deborah, Judge over Israel,” created by Leo and Diane Dillon.
It sold for $3,700.
According to Dr. Jerry Mallett, director of the museum, the event was a
phenomenal success. “It was a spectacular event. Everyone was very
generous, and the art was amazing,” Mallett said. “Thank you to everyone
who worked so hard to make the auction possible.”
