UF Distinguished Associates Named
Wednesday, December 14, 2005
Findlay, Ohio – Marguerite (Peg) Armstrong and Margaret M. Palmer were
named The University of Findlay’s 2005 Distinguished Associates at
"Applause," the donor recognition reception held at the University on
Nov. 29.

Since 1975, the Distinguished Associates Award has been presented to
members of the UF Associates who by their personal endeavors, financial
support and leadership have brought distinction to The University of
Findlay.
“These two women have boundless energy and enthusiasm; they have a zest
for life and a self-designed plan for the living of life to its fullest
measure,” Dr. Marie Louden-Hanes, dean of the College of Liberal Arts,
commented during the reception. “Their participation in the lives of
our students continues to be defined as a desire to provide a safe
haven and a fertile field for the enrichment of the scholar, the
athlete and the performer.”
Both Armstrong and Palmer have been a visible presence on the University’s campus for many years.
Palmer is an active supporter of the Senior Forum and of SummerStock
Theatre. She also provides continual support for the Concert and
Lecture Series, and can be seen attending various campus functions
throughout the year.
Armstrong is the driving force behind the University’s new Russ and Peg
Armstrong Sports Complex, located on the corner of Trenton and North
Blanchard Avenues. The facility, which was officially dedicated in
August, includes six tennis courts and the practice field for the Oiler
football team. When completed, the Armstrong Complex will include a
baseball field, a softball field, an eight-lane all-weather track with
a soccer field inside the track and two football practice fields.
