Findlay, Ohio - The community is invited to a Toys for Tots Christmas
party on Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The University of Findlay’s
Alumni Memorial Union (AMU). Attendees are encouraged to bring a new,
unwrapped toy to support Toys for Tots. The event is supported by The
University of Findlay, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and 107.7 The Fox.
The event will include refreshments, a display of more than 30
decorated Christmas trees, photos with Santa from 1 to 3 p.m., and
107.7 The Fox will broadcast live from the party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In addition, the Traveling Museum of Military Vehicles will be on
display in front the AMU, weather permitting. The museum will be
accompanied by representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps.
Since the inception of the Toys for Tots program in 1948, the U.S.
Marine Corps Reserves has collected more than 332,000,000 toys for
children nationwide. This is the second year The University of
Findlay has participated in the Toys for Tots toy drive. Last
year, 105 toys were collected through UF for the children of Hancock
County, helping the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves collect 10,772 toys
throughout Hancock County in 2004.
This year, the Toys for Tots toy collection goal for Hancock County is 12,000 toys, with the UF goal being 200 toys.
A donation box for new, unwrapped toys is located outside of the Office
of Student Activities and Commuter Student Services in the AMU, Monday
– Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 16.
