“Bells Are Ringing” to Open Feb. 22
Thursday, February 02, 2006

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay’s theatre and music programs will take audiences back to a time before answering machines with the musical “Bells Are Ringing” at 8 p.m. Feb. 22-26 at the John and Hester Powell-Grimm Theatre.

“Bells Are Ringing,” with music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is being produced by Dr. Micheal F. Anders, UF director of choral activities and professor of music. Anders also is serving as the musical director, and Vicki McClurkin, UF adjunct theatre professor, is serving as stage director for the production.

The musical is set in a time when an operator answered the telephone if someone else couldn’t. The production tells the tale of how the lines are blurred between doing a job and eavesdropping.

The uplifting musical numbers include “Just in Time,” “The Party’s Over” and “Long Before I Knew You.”

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, and free to UF faculty, staff and students. For tickets, contact the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335.
