Thursday, February 16, 2006
Findlay, Ohio – A series of free seminars to help senior citizens learn
how to better obtain reliable health information from the Internet will
be offered beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22. Sessions for the three part
series will be held 9:30 – 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, March 1, and
March 15 at the Hancock County Agency on Aging, 423 Trenton Ave.,
Findlay.
The seminars are being organized by The University of Findlay’s
Occupational Therapy Program and the Hancock County Agency on Aging.
According to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, 69 percent of Americans
age 65 and older have never used the Internet, yet 65 percent of all
Internet users are looking for health and medical information.
Other topics for the series include helping seniors to understand their
own health conditions and how to become more actively involved in
managing their health care. The workshops include hands-on exercises to
ensure the participants are comfortable in their ability to find
reliable and useful information.
A general typing knowledge is recommended for participation in the course. Participants are asked to attend all three sessions.
