UF Faculty Promotion and Tenure Announced

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay Board of Trustees approved eight faculty members for promotion and 11 for tenure during the recent board meeting.

The following faculty members have been promoted from associate to full professor:

  • Dr. Louann Cummings, professor of business. Cummings holds an executive doctor of management from Case Western Reserve University, an M.B.A. in management from The University of Toledo, and a B.A. in economics/communications from Denison University
  • Dr. Elizabeth Raker, professor of education and director of the middle childhood program. Raker holds a Ph.D. in educational technology, an M.Ed., in curriculum and teaching from The University of Toledo, and a B.M.Ed. in music education and English from Mary Manse College.

The following faculty members have been promoted from assistant to associate professor:
  • Maria Gamba, associate professor of business. Gamba is in the process of completing of a Ph.D. in business management from Capella University. She holds a M.S. in social and applied economics from Wright State University, and a B.A. in economics from the University of the Philippines.
  • Dr. Gary Johnson, associate professor of English. Johnson holds a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of North Carolina, and a B.A. in comparative literature from the University of Virginia.
  • Dr. Tim Murphy, associate professor of environmental safety and health management. Murphy holds a Ph.D. from OSU, an M.S. in environmental management from UF, and a B.S. in environmental health from Ferris State College.
  • Dr. Julia Perez-Gamba, associate professor of Spanish. Perez-Gamba holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic linguistics and an M.A. in Spanish and Portuguese from OSU, and a B.A. from the National University of Trujillo, Peru.
The following faculty member have been promoted from instructor to assistant professor:
  • Todd Beitzel, assistant professor of criminal justice. Beitzel is in the process of completing of a Ph.D. in criminal justice from Michigan State University. He holds a M.A. and a B.A. in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
  • Nancy Munoz, assistant professor of Spanish. Munoz is in the process of completing of a Ph.D. in foreign language education in Spanish from Union Institute. She holds an M.A. in history from the University of Texas, and a B.A. in history and Spanish from the College of Wooster.
The following faculty members have been approved for tenure:
  • Todd Beitzel (also promoted)
  • Dr. Louann Cummings (also promoted)
  • Dr. Thomas Dillon, director and associate professor of occupational therapy. Dillon holds an Ed.D. in education from the University of St. Thomas, a M.A. in clinical psychology from the American International College, and a B.S. in occupational therapy from the University of New Hampshire.
  • Michael Edelbrock, assistant director of the master’s degree program for School of Environmental and Emergency Management. Edelbrock is in the process of completing of a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Medical University of Ohio. He holds an M.S. in environmental management from UF, and a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.
  • Dr. Robert Frampton, director and associate professor of physical therapy. Frampton holds a doctorate in health care ethics, a master’s of physical therapy. and a B.S. in health sciences from Duquesne University.
  • Dr. Jon Gordon, director of communication, associate professor of intercultural communication. Gordon holds a Ph.D. in communication and a M.F.A. in printmaking from OSU, an M.A. in international studies from the University of South Carolina, and a B.A. in studio arts from Hiram College.
  • Scott Hayes, director of the Theatre Program and associate professor of theatre. Hayes holds an M.F.A. in acting from Florida State University, and a B.F.A. in acting from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

  • Helen Schneider, assistant professor of computer science and technology management. Schneider is in the process of completing a Ph.D. in computer technology education from Nova Southeastern University. She holds a M.B.A. from UF, an SCIS in computing technology in education from Nova Southeastern University, and a B.A. in computer and information science from OSU.
  • John Wolper, director and associate professor of hospitality management. He is awaiting conferral of his Ph.D. in leadership administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He holds an M.S. and a B.S. in hotel, restaurant and travel administration from the University of Massachusetts.
