UF to Host Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
Friday, March 10, 2006
Findlay, Ohio — The University of Findlay invites the community to
participate in UF’s fifth annual Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
(A.I.K.D.) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, in the
Alumni Memorial Union.
The co-sponsored event is organized by UF’s Office of Student
Activities and Commuter Student Services, the Office of Development and Campfire U.S.A.
During the event, participants are encouraged to write and send a
personalized note to a child to let them know how special they really
are. “The idea is simple. The time investment is minimal. The results
are long-lasting,” said Sharinda Welton-Peeler, UF director of student
activities and commuter student services. “A letter can be so powerful
and such a positive force in a child’s life — and it’s an extremely
rewarding and emotional experience for the letter writer as well.”
Letters of support and encouragement can be sent to any child including
siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren or even someone on campus. The
local Campfire U.S.A. also will provide lists of children’s names in
Hancock County that could benefit from a note of appreciation.
Last year, more than 300 letters were sent to special children in the community.
