UF to Host Physical Therapy Research Forum

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay will host the Physical
Therapy Program Spring Research Forum in conjunction with Ohio Physical
Therapy Association Northwest District Meeting from 4:15 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, March 30, in the Alumni Memorial Union on the UF campus. The
forum is open to area clinicians.
The forum is designed to foster innovative, independent and critical
thinking to enhance personal development and advancement in the
physical therapy profession.
The keynote speaker for the forum will be Dr. Stephanie K. Carter,
Medical University of Ohio in Toledo orthopedics professor and research
curriculum coordinator. Carter will give a presentation at 5:30 p.m.
titled “Using Research to Define the Practice of Physical Therapy.” Her
presentation will cover the concepts of epidemiology as they translate
to physical therapy practice. She also will promote clinical research
among students, faculty and community members.
Carter has published one case study and several abstracts and
frequently presents at state and national conferences regarding spine
stabilization and physical therapy outcomes. She was named the
Outstanding Physical Therapist of the Year from the Ohio Physical
Therapy Association in 2002 for her work on the State Funded Physical
Therapy Outcome Study.
In addition, poster presentations by graduate students in the
University’s Physical Therapy Program will be held from 4:15 to 5:15
p.m., and platform presentations on various physical therapy topics
will be held from 6:40 to 8 p.m.
