UF to Host Fear Factor 2006 Competition
Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Findlay, Ohio — Groups from area high schools, the Findlay community and The University of Findlay will test their mental, physical and emotional abilities in UF’s Fear Factor 2006 competition on Saturday, April 22.

During Fear Factor, which begins at 9 a.m., co-ed teams of six people will participate in events such as the Buddy Swim, in which competitors swim a relay race while holding onto a greased watermelon; Tunnel of Fear, in which players will crawl through a black, 70-foot tunnel while wearing safety gear; and Computer Whiz, in which teams have a short time to correctly program computers.

The event will culminate with a barbecue and awards presentation at 5 p.m. at the Koehler Complex. Awards will be given for the best overall team within each category, and individual awards will be given for each event. Prizes include a trophy for the first-place winners and certificates for one free training course from UF’s School of Environmental and Emergency Management.

Organized by the Oiler Environmental, Safety and Health Organization, the event is free for all participants and is designed to present a series of challenges that will test the participants.
