Greenville Poets to Give Reading at UF
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Findlay, Ohio – Five members of the Greenville Poets will give a public
poetry reading at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at The University of
Findlay’s Malcolm Dining Hall in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.
The reading is sponsored by the Department of English and the Convocations Committee in celebration of National Poetry Month.
The poets who will be reading are Cathryn Essinger, David Garrison,
Belinda Rismiller, Lianne Spidel and Myrna Stone. Prior to the reading,
several of the poets will visit with students in creative writing and
poetry writing classes and talk with them about what it takes to run a
successful writer’s group and the process to get a poetry manuscript
published.
Founded in 1985, the group meets monthly to critique work and support
each other’s publication efforts. Between the seven members they
have published eight books of poetry, three volumes of translation and
won grants from the Ohio Arts Council and many other prizes and
fellowships.
A reception and book signing will follow the reading.
