Monday, May 08, 2006
The University of Findlay expects to balance its budget for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2006. The University also plans to expand academic
programs and increase construction of academic facilities during the
next fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2006.
About $7.2 million of construction is planned. Projects include
expanding the Mazza Museum in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion for $2.2
million; renovation of the recently acquired former Owens property for
$3 million; and building another arena at the western equestrian farm
for $500,000. Maintenance and improvement projects throughout the
campus are expected to cost about $1.5 million.
The University also is re-equipping basic science and other laboratories at a cost of about $1 million.
The budget for next year is projected to be balanced. It reflects plans
to further strengthen academic and student programs, and to begin
instruction in pharmacy. Twelve new faculty and two new deans are
expected to be appointed.
The University Board of Trustees reviewed the above information at its
meeting on May 4-5. Thirty-three regular trustees and three special
trustees attended the two-day meeting.
“We had a good meeting,” C. Richard Beckett, board chair, said. “Trustees
are pleased with the progress and direction of the University. We are
expanding academic facilities and instruction substantially,
systematically strengthening programs of the University and improving
finances.”
