More Than 700 to Graduate from University on May 6

More than 700 students will graduate from The University of Findlay
during spring commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, in the
Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
C. Richard Beckett, DVM, chair of the UF Board of Trustees, will give
the commencement address. A member of the board since 1985, he has
served on its executive committee since 1994 and as chair since 2001. A
veterinarian, he is the founder and president of the Findlay Animal
Hospital and the Animal Care Centers of America. He was
instrumental in initiating the University’s equestrian studies program
in 1976, the pre-veterinary medicine program in 1982 and University
Equine Veterinary Services Inc. in 1996.
He was awarded an honorary doctor of entrepreneurial business
development degree in 1996 and was named a Distinguished Associate in
1994 by The University of Findlay. He has actively served as an officer
and on the boards of many community organizations, including the
Findlay•Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, the Community Development
Foundation, the Hancock Recreation Center, and others.
A total of 257 graduate degrees will be awarded, including 110 master
of business administration degrees; 62 master of arts in education
degrees; 37 master of physical therapy degrees; 22 master of
occupational therapy degrees; 14 master of science in environmental,
safety and health management degrees; nine master of arts in TESOL
(teaching English to speakers of other languages) and bilingual
education degrees; five master of athletic training degrees; and three
master of arts in liberal studies degrees.
A total of 467 undergraduate degrees will be conferred, including 294
bachelor of science degrees; 86 bachelor of arts degrees; 33 bachelor
of science in business management degrees; eight bachelor of science in
environmental management degrees; and five bachelor of science in
criminal justice degrees; and 41 associate of arts degrees.
Among the graduates are 82 international students representing 12 countries.
The University’s traditional Arch Ceremony will immediately follow
commencement at approximately 4 p.m. at the Griffith Memorial Arch.
The University of Findlay is a comprehensive university located in
