UF to Host Speaker on Osteoporosis on May 5

The University of Findlay’s Physical Therapy Program will host Lindsay
Elchert, MPT, as a guest speaker at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, at
Winebrenner Theological Seminary, Room 254.
Elchert, a 2002 alumna of the master’s in physical therapy program at
UF, will discuss “Osteoporosis Treatment Implications for Physical
Therapists,” including a detailed examination of osteoporosis’
pathology, epidemiology, risk factors and diagnosis; treatment
strategies including postural re-alignment, resistance training,
weight-bearing exercise, balance training and gym exercise guidelines;
and daily living activity adaptations and patient guidelines.
Elchert works full-time as a clinician at Blanchard Valley Regional
Health Center and was integral in establishing a community osteoporosis
program there in 2005. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at
UF.
Practicing physical therapists from the region and UF physical therapy
students are invited to attend the Grand Rounds program, which is
provided through the Physical Therapy Program at UF.
