Wednesday, May 03, 2006

The University of Findlay’s Physical Therapy Program will host Lindsay Elchert, MPT, as a guest speaker at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Winebrenner Theological Seminary, Room 254.

Elchert, a 2002 alumna of the master’s in physical therapy program at UF, will discuss “Osteoporosis Treatment Implications for Physical Therapists,” including a detailed examination of osteoporosis’ pathology, epidemiology, risk factors and diagnosis; treatment strategies including postural re-alignment, resistance training, weight-bearing exercise, balance training and gym exercise guidelines; and daily living activity adaptations and patient guidelines.

Elchert works full-time as a clinician at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center and was integral in establishing a community osteoporosis program there in 2005. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at UF.

Practicing physical therapists from the region and UF physical therapy students are invited to attend the Grand Rounds program, which is provided through the Physical Therapy Program at UF.
