The University of Findlay will host the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration’s second annual Emergency Preparedness and Response
Conference on June 5-6 at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation
Center.
The 2006 all-hazards approach to health and safety conference will
award continuing education credits and offer updates on emergency
preparedness and response to any group or individual interested.
Registration, exhibits, speakers, receptions and sessions will take
place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 5. The sessions will present
response and safety information on clandestine methamphetamine labs,
hurricane and other environmental hazards along with agricultural
terrorism and other regulatory updates.
Guest speakers include Ruth McCully, director of the directorate of
science, technology and medicine of Washington D.C., to discuss
Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness from a National
perspective and Paul D. Biddinger, MD, Fellow of the American College
of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), to discuss the role of hospitals and
public health professionals in an all-hazards approach to disasters
planning, preparedness and response.
Events will continue throughout Tuesday, June 6, until 3:30 p.m.
Prior to the conference, a golf scramble will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday,
June 4, at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington to provide an
opportunity for conference exhibitors and registered attendees to
network in a casual environment for $38.
The $145 fee to attend the conference includes admission to the exhibits, breakout
sessions and receptions along with a 20-percent discount to
post-conference training courses. Registration must be completed by
Tuesday, May 30.
