Findlay, Ohio - Mrs. Ellen L. Fish officially retired from The
University of Findlay on May 31, 2006. She was recognized for her
dedication at the Employee Recognition Dinner on April 28, and a
going-away celebration was held on her last day at the University.

Fish
dedicated 21 years to UF, beginning in 1985 as a clerk in the postal
room. While working there, she studied at UF, and in May of 1995
graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communications, with a
publications emphasis. That same year, Fish moved to her final
position at the University as an associate Registrar.
At
the registrar’s office, Fish’s primary responsibilities were to run the
degree audit programming; check athletic eligibility, veteran affairs
benefits, degree audits and the assessment of academic acceleration.
Fish
was most commonly referred to as a very helpful employee. Daughter
Sonja Benedict, also employed at the University, said, “My mother
always told me if I didn’t know the answer it was better to tell them I
would find the answer than to guess.” Living by this advice made
Fish one of the best registrar office employees.
Tony
Goedde, the registrar at UF commented on her work ethic. “Ellen’s
extraordinary commitment, her positive attitude every day, her
attention to detail, her kindness and consideration toward others, and
her willingness to go the extra mile made her a truly immeasurable
asset to the Office of the Registrar.”
Before
coming to the University, Fish worked at her husband’s business, Fish
Stained Glass, as the records manager, and a homemaker. She married
Lerse Fish in 1958. Together they had three daughters and one son, and
now have five grandchildren. Her family includes Sonja and Jeff
Benedict and children Chad and Justin; Emily and Joe Radabaugh and
children Mila, Molly and Cody; Sarah Fish and Ben Johnson; and Andrew
Fish.
