A tradition at many health professions schools, the white coat ceremony conveys the promise of dedication to the rigors of studies and symbolizes the serious and purposeful commitment to becoming health care providers.

More than 70 attendees were welcomed by Cynthia Pentz, director of the PA program, who also gave the keynote address. Lisa Dutton, dean of the College of Health Professions, recognized the faculty. After the presentation of coats, students pledged to “honor the rich tradition embodied in learning the art and the science of medicine.” The student oath was led by Kay Ericson, assistant professor.

The PA class of 2008 includes Mansoor Bhatti, Andrew Burns, Kristy Carter, Sarah Cerney, David Cheney, Ashley Hassler, Alexander Horstman, Alan Kingsbery, Andrew Klausing, Troy Magaw, Danielle Reynolds, Winona Smith, Sitha Sngoun, Kelly Sweeting, Alyson Turner, Nguyet Vo, Miranda Ward and Adam Weaver.
