Ten Graduate from UF’s Physician Assistant Program
Tuesday, August 15, 2006
Ten students graduated from The University of Findlay’s physician assistant program recently during a special ceremony.
Graduates include Amanda Bryan, Courtney Cribbs,
Colleen Goetz, Sean Haig, Laura (Hart) Day, Lisa Martorana, Douglas
McCollum, Blake Rapier, Ryan Richardson and C.J. Strausbaugh.
After a prayer given by pastor Will Miller, director
of Christian ministry at UF, graduates and guests were welcomed by UF
president Dr. DeBow Freed, who congratulated the students and wished
them the best in the health care profession.
Kay Ericson, Physician Assistant – Certified (PA-C),
assistant professor, gave the keynote address. She talked of the great
memories she had with the class of 2006 and noted personal memories of
each student. “I am proud to have taken part in this experience with
each of you,” said Ericson as she ended with a heartfelt farewell.
Students were presented with certificates of
completion, which allows them to sit for the Physician Assistant
National Certification Examination. Each student must pass the
examination in order to practice as a physician assistant. Graduates
were also given a copy of “Just Say for Me,” a book of words and
phrases spoken to students and colleagues by Dr. Eugene Stead, the
founding father of the physician assistant profession.
Students and other physician assistant professionals
in attendance recited the physician assistant professional oath,
pledging to perform their duties with honesty and dedication.
Cynthia Pentz, PA-C, director of the physician
assistant program, closed the ceremony and expressed a sincere “thanks”
to the graduates’ families for supporting the students during the
course of the program.
