UF’s First School of Pharmacy Students Receive White Coats
Monday, August 28, 2006
On Aug. 25, each student in The University of Findlay’s School of
Pharmacy received a crisp white lab coat in the pharmacy program’s
first White Coat Ceremony.
Sixty members of the class of 2010 participated in the ceremony, held at the College First Church of God.
Dr. Don Stansloski, dean of the School of Pharmacy, welcomed students
and guests. Remarks were given by Dr. DeBow Freed, UF president, and
Dr. William Ruse, chair of the School of Pharmacy advisory board.
After the presentation of the white coats, students recited the
professional Oath of a Pharmacist. A recessional followed, and
refreshments were served.
CVS/pharmacy partially sponsored the event with the purchase of 60 white coats for students and refreshments.
The ceremony signifies the students’ entrance into the third year of
the six-year program, which is the first year of professional courses
in the School of Pharmacy. During the third year of the program,
students complete beginning pharmacy courses.
The School of Pharmacy recently received approval in the first step of
its three-step accreditation process by the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education. The school will continue to work toward full
accreditation.
