UF Hosts 5K to Benefit City Mission

As part of homecoming activities, The University of Findlay is hosting the 2006 Homecoming 5K Run/Walk and Little Oiler Fun Run, led by Derrick the Oiler, on Saturday, Oct. 7. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Findlay City Mission.

The cost for each participant in the 5K run/walk is $15 if postmarked by Sept. 15 and $20 after that date. Entries received by Sept. 15 will be guaranteed a T-shirt. All entry fees are nonrefundable. Participation in the Little Oiler Fun Run is free.

Special awards will be given to the first-place under-40 male and female and to the first-place over-40 male and female. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age division, including age 10 and younger, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65 and over. All fun run participants will receive a participation award.

Participants will be eligible for door prizes, including the grand prize, a Findlay weekend getaway package. It includes hotel accommodations at Comfort Suites of Findlay, dinner for two and movie tickets. Other door prizes include an airplane ride for two above Findlay and the surrounding area, gift certificates to The University of Findlay bookstore, gift certificates to area restaurants and more.

The race begins and ends in front of Old Main on the University campus. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the fun run starting at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K starting at 9 a.m. Parking will be available at the Ralph and Gladys Koehler Fitness Center and Recreation Complex. Shower facilities will be available to registered participants at the Croy Physical Education Center.
The event is hosted by The University of Findlay and primarily sponsored by BioLife Plasma Services.
