UF’s Senior Forum Begins Sept. 21

The University of Findlay’s Senior Forum, a six-week series of learning
experiences for people age 50 and older, begins Wednesday, Sept. 20, in
the Alumni Memorial Union.
The forums, consisting of a variety of informative
and entertaining sessions, take place each Wednesday through Oct. 25.
Three sessions take place each day, one in the morning, one at lunch
and one in the afternoon.
The Sept. 20 program will feature “Fall Gardening”
by Ruth Furiate and Kay Sidaway from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. The lunch
session from noon to 1 p.m. will include “Agriculture in Hancock
County” by Gary Wilson. The afternoon session from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m.
will feature “Some of My Favorite (Music) Things?” by Mel Harsh, Ph.D.,
of the Toledo Symphony.
The complete schedule of upcoming sessions is:
• Sept. 27 – “Old Testament Prophets,” “Arthritis Treatments and Related Illness” and “Songs of the People.”
• Oct. 4 – “Global Warming: Fact or Fiction?” “Indian
Culture in Northwest Ohio” and “Some Barbershop History.”
• Oct. 11 – “Johnny Appleseed,” “Growing The University of Findlay” and “Music for a While.”
• Oct. 18 – “Theodore Roosevelt,” “Exercise in the Senior Years” and “Arts of Portugal.”
• Oct. 25 – “Great Figures in History,”
“Understanding Chinese Culture” and “Ud, Lute, Guitar: String
Reflections.”
Prices for the complete, 18-session program are $65 for individuals or
$125 for couples. The fee for any single session is $5. A buffet lunch
is available for an additional $5 per day, and a coffee/tea bar is
provided all day at no charge.
