University Welcomes Parents, Families

The University of Findlay welcomes students’ parents and families to campus and to the community for Family Weekend Sept. 22-23.
On Friday, Sept. 22, parents and family members are
invited to attend classes with their UF students. A driving tour
through the city of Findlay will be offered in the afternoon, with
stops at the English and Western equestrian farms, the Environmental
Resource Training Center and the Russ and Peg Armstrong Sports Complex.
The last stop on the tour will be Dietsch Brothers for an afternoon
treat.
After dinner in Henderson Dining Hall, visitors will
have the option of purchasing tickets to attend the first Concert and
Lecture Series performance featuring the Toledo Opera at 8 p.m. in
Winebrenner Theological Seminary (WTS). Tickets can be purchased by
calling the box office at 419-434-5335.
A continental breakfast will be served to students’
families on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Alumni
Memorial Union followed by a panel discussion in WTS: “A Day in the
Life of a UF Student.” Panelists include UF faculty, staff and students.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., visitors are invited
to attend a family picnic and equestrian festival at the James L. Child
Jr. Equestrian Complex on County Rd. 210, Findlay. Equestrian students
and their horses will perform hunter, jumper and dressage
demonstrations. For children, a clown, face painting and pony rides
will be on site.
While on campus, visitors also will have the
opportunity to attend the Cruise Cuisine and Travel Show from 11 a.m.
to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Koehler
Fitness and Recreation Center. Five major cruise lines will be in
attendance, and The University of Findlay’s hospitality management
program will be the only food provider for the show. There also will be
demonstrations throughout the day and entertainment by Findlay High
School’s steel drum band Pantasia. The show is sponsored by WFIN, WKXA
and Carlson Millstream Travel.
Family Weekend concludes with the UF versus Wayne State football game
at Donnell Stadium at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 people to arrive at the
game will receive a complimentary meal, which includes a pulled pork
sandwich, coleslaw and baked beans, from the Red Pig Inn.
